Reading an article from The Jakarta Post on philately and postcard exchange, reminded me that once upon a time I used to have penpals from several different countries in the world and almost every province in this country.
I first took the liking of pen-paling when I was a 6 grader. Subscribed to a kids magazine that provided one specific column for exchanging address and penpal ads. It was fun, writing about your days, imagination, life, family to your friend. and the best part was, receiving letters from them. Handwritten, self stamped letters that went across the sea, sky, and land to reach me. The hobby lasted till I was an 8 grader.
Now having been familiarized with emails and internet, I sorta lost the urgency to do it anymore. Emails are way more efficient. They're fast, cheap, and paperless. While snail mail (the term used for mails using postal service) will take days or even months to reach recipients.
However, reading the article, I think am gonna try it again, the snail mail. It feels good to receive a bulky envelope with your name on it, and reading the letters, touching and feeling it with your hands.
Am preparing some photos I took before for the postcards material. Will see if I can get a snapshot of them before sending it.
